Unified Internal Communications Boost Employee Confidence

Situation

Following several mergers, this large corporation found itself without a cohesive company culture.

Process

After a thorough benchmarking study tools were developed that guided the company’s communication program for several years. They included:

· An internal communications platform that outlined key themes and messages and how they would be communicated
· Establishment of a communications council that met quarterly on communications issues
· An initiative to increase the level of commonality between disparate communications pieces. This was done by templating site newsletters and mandating a set of visual elements in the local communications
· Merged and unified e-mail and voice mail systems so that the company could speak with one voice immediately to every employee in the company

Result

85% of employees in a culture survey rated employee communication good to excellent.
